Weekly Roundup - 10/20/06...

Here’s a quick look at posts that caught my eye over the past week (better late than never)…

JLP has a nice post on building wealth with other people’s money.
Jim gives us the skinny on paying estimated taxes on a quarterly basis.

Upromise--Why not sign up? Believe me, the amount of savings you accrue is extremely small, but as long as you don't mind having yet another company tracking your shopping habits, you might as well join up and register your grocery cards.

I looked into Littlegrad and Babymint a while back but Upromise seemed to have an exponentially larger number of merchants as affiliates. I haven't looked into them in a long time, though.

See also Fidelity's credit card that offers 2% cashback deposited directly into a Fidelity 529. Again, you'll still have to save a lot for college on your own, but passive saving can help a little bit.

One of the best web resources for this is savingforcollege.com. They want you to pay for some stuff on the site, but I've never paid them a dime and have gotten good info there.

I have been planning to sign up for Upromise for awhile now but haven't gotten around to it. It appears to be free so I don't see any reason not too. I am not sure how much they earn but every little bit helps.

I am not familiar with little grad...is it similar to Upromise?

[...] We have now passed the halfway point in the Bogleheads’ October Project, a chapter-by-chapter, blogger-by-blogger review of The Bogleheads’ Guide to Investing. We didn’t have a chapter review yesterday so we’ll have two today. The first review is Jason’s review of Chapter 14 - Savvy Ways to Invest for College. Later today I’ll J.D. of GetRichSlowly’s review of Chapter 15 - How to Manage a Windfall Successfully.
